Commission by the Herefordshire Hospital
Jeanette has been awarded a commission by the Herefordshire Hospital to design and make two large textile panels to hang in one of the wards in the stonebow unit. Working with the patients using textile techniques such as silk screen printing, fabric painting and applique, the two themes are ' Herefordshire landmarks' and the ' Farmers Market'. The themes of the panels are designed to help patients with illness related to aging (such as Dementia and Alzheimer's), by encouraging memory and conversation.
The second project will focus on words and text, working on the wards to encourage self expression. This work will be compiled into textile printed banners and also printed into booklets.
The work is due to be completed in 2011 with thanks to the Cadbury's Trust, who generously funded this project.
Wellbeing Arts Project
In 2009 Herefordshire Housing Limited invited Jeanette to be the project coordinator and lead artist in a country wide 'Wellbeing Arts Project'. The project encourages Herefordshire's senior citizens to engage in creative activity and learn new skills, in a social and inclusive environment. The project which began in the city centre will expand across the county and especially rural location. The project is scheduled to run until 2011. Several exhibitions of her work produced will be shown, the first at All Saints Church in Hereford.
Knotwork
Graham Hartill a writer and poet, and Jeanette are collaborating on a project called 'Knotwork' due to be 'unveiled' during a performance on Monday 5th July 2010 at the Ledbury Poetry Festival. The project began by visiting the Romanesque medieval churches in Herefordshire, this developed the tension between words and images and the unique imagery found in them. Jeanette's printed silk panels will be viewed as part of a conversation with Graham's poetry and readings.
Unsung Heroes
The second part of Unsung Heroes ( exhibited at The Courtyard in 2009) will be displayed in the gallery at Malvern Hills Library from 28th of May - June 2010. Jeanette has continued to develop themes first explored in the previous year, continuing to work on ceramics.
